Rental terms

These terms apply to every rental from Textbook Agent Rentals, a service of Textbook Agent LLC. By checking out, you agree to them.

1. Rental period and due date

Rentals placed now are due December 15, 2026. Your due date is shown at checkout, on your receipt, and on your rental page.
A book counts as returned on time when the carrier scans it by the due date. Drop boxes can be slow, so allow extra time.

You may extend each book 1 time for the same rental price you paid. Your new due date becomes May 15, 2027.
Extend from the link in your confirmation email at any time before your book is late.

If your book isn’t scanned by the carrier by the due date, we automatically charge a $14.95 late fee to your card on file, and your due date moves 15 days later.
If the book still isn’t scanned by the end of that grace period, your rental converts to a purchase. We charge the buyout price minus the late fee you already paid, with a $19.95 minimum. The book is then yours, and it should not be returned. This conversion is final.

Each book’s buyout price is shown on its page, in your cart, and in your emails.
You can buy your rental anytime before it’s returned. You pay the buyout price minus the rental fees and late fees you’ve already paid, with a $5.00 minimum.

Rentals may be new or used. Access codes, CDs, and other supplements are not included unless stated.
Normal wear is fine. Please keep highlighting and writing light.
A book is damaged if it can’t be rented again. Examples: water or liquid damage, a broken or detached spine, missing, torn or taped pages or covers, or writing or highlighting on more than about a quarter of the pages.
For a damaged book, we may charge a damage fee up to the buyout price, minus the rental fees you’ve paid. We’ll email you what we found and what we charged.

Every rental includes a free prepaid return label. Please use only our label, so we can track your return.
Changed your mind? Return a book within 21 days of your order, in the condition you received it, for a full refund of that book’s rental price.
Rental fees are not refunded for books returned at the end of the rental period, even if returned early.

A valid credit or debit card is required for every rental. Your card is stored securely by our payment processor, Stripe. We never see your full card number.
By renting, you authorize us to charge your card on file for extensions you request, late fees, conversions to purchase, purchases you request, and damage fees, as described in these terms.
If a charge is declined, we’ll email you and retry. Balances unpaid for 30 days may be sent to a collection agency, which may add its own fees.
Applicable sales tax may be added.
